Question about Look-Back Time!?

Alright, so you know how when we look in the sky and see stuff how it's not really what we're seeing? Like that image was from so many years ago? If something were to happen, like a supernova or collision or something, we wouldn't be able to see it for a long time depending how far away that object is, right?
