Why do people hate hipsters/indie people?

I personally just don't like the style or think theres anything unique about it. I feel like it's going back in time. I like modern things. Typically the indie style/music just annoys me. One of my best friends is adapting the hipster style and I'm just like, ugh, what are you thinking. It's hideous.
