Why won't the money cheat work for me in fable two ?!?

O.K, so I know you have to buy a stall and adjust the prices to twenty percent, then i change my date and time to as far as it goes. But when I start playing, I don't get much gold, I only get the normal amount! PLEASE HELP! It worked for my friend, that's how he bough Castle Fairfax, and has over 100 million gold. So, uhm do you know why it's not working? Should i try doing it with renting out a house?
